PULSE POLIO IMMUNISATION PROGRAMME – PHASE –I

Urban Family Welfare Centre of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch   has conducted the First Phase Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign from 18-01-2015 to   24-01-2015 (7 days) with the support of Corporation of Chennai.

The total population in our allotted area at Chindadripet (Chennai) is 54903, of which 4526 are below 5 years. The Nurse Aid Students of Indian Red Cross Society participated as Volunteers to mobilise and motivate the children, during door to door visit.

5290 children (764 children from out side area) were immunised through 11 fixed and 3 mobile booths.

Salem Educational District JRC Students performed Cultural Programme focusing on Road Safety Awareness on 26.01.2015 in Salem. The District Collector, Salem presented Appreciation Certificate to the JRC Students during the function. Thiru P. Prabahar, JRC Convener, Salem Educational District was also present in the function.

The 65th Anniversary of Geneva Conventions Celebration was held on 06.01.2015 at the University of Madras, Chennai. Dr. Harish L Metha, Chairman, IRCS-TNB, delivered the Welcome Address, Prof. R. Thandavan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras, Chennai was the Chief Guest. Thiru.M.S.M.Nasruddin, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch and Thiru. M. Senthilnathan, Treasurer, IRCS-TNB honoured the Chief Guest. Prof. A. Kadar Basha, Hon. Advisor, YRC, IRCS-TNB presented about the significance of Geneva Conventions Celebration. On this occasion, various Awards presented to Chief Educational officers of Chennai, Kancheepuram & Thiruvallur Districts, Best JRC Counselors, Best JRC Juniors, Best Principal (YRC), Best YRC Zonal Co-ordinator, Best YRC Programme Officer and Best YRC Volunteers, by Prof. R. Thandavan, Vice-Chancellor of University of Madras. Besides 108 Colleges affiliated to University of Madras were honored for their continuous enrolment and for performance through Certificate of Appreciation by the Chief Guest. Tmt. Anitha, Chief Educational Officer of Chennai District was honored. Dr. G. Bhaskaran, YRC Zonal Co-ordinator, University of Madras, Chennai delivered the Vote of Thanks. Compering the Programme was done by Thiru. Narayanan. A. K. Administrative Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch.

Under the theme of “Swacch Bharath Abhiyan” (Clean India Mission) involving YRC Volunteers, the following Colleges observed the “National Youth Day” :-

 

1. Vivekananda College of Technology for Women, Elampalayam, Tiruchengode, Namakkal District YRC wing of this College had organized Human Chain by involving YRC Volunteers and created Awareness on Clean India” among the Students. 200 YRC Volunteers and 10 faculty members participated in theProgramme.
2. Billroth College of Nursing,Thiruvallur District YRC wing of this College had organized Awareness Programme making the students to Clean their Campus. Prof. Dr. C. Susila, unfolded the theme.
3. S.D.T. Hindu College,Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District Dr. V. Venukumar, YRC District Organizer of Kanyakumari District organized Seminar on the Role of Youth in Swachh Bharath Abhiyan at S.D.T. Hindu College, Nagercoil. 200 YRC Volunteers participated in the sessions.
4. Vivekanandha NursingCollege for Women,Sankari Taluk, Salem District Had conducted Rally by YRC Volunteers and created Awareness regarding free open field defecation, using of sanitary latrine, avoid manual scavenging. The rally was inaugurated by the Principal.
5. Nightingale Institute of Nursing Education,Coimbatore Had implemented this project by cleaning their campus along with Southern Railway Employees. 

 

6. Dharmapuram Adinam Arts College,Myiladuthurai, Nagapattinam District YRC wing has organized Rally.                           Tmt. S. Divyadarshini, Sub-Collector, inaugurated the Rally. 100 YRC Volunteers participated.
7. Saravanatham College of Engineering,Trichy YRC wing has organized Campus Cleaning programme. Dr. A. Revathi, administered the Clean India Mission, Pledge & inaugurated the College Campus cleaning programme. 100 YRC Volunteers participated in the programme.
8. Periyar University ConstitutedCollege of Arts & Science,Dharmapuri District YRC wing of this college has organized Motivational Lecture on Clean India to observe the National Youth Day.
9. Karunya University,Coimbatore YRC wing of Karunya University observed National Youth Day. The YRC Volunteers cleaned the University Campus.
10. VIT University,Vellore YRC Wing of VIT University observed National Youth Day. The YRC Volunteers cleaned the University Campus.
11. Om Sakthi College of Nursing,Dharmapuri YRC wing observed National Youth Day by cleaning their campus & Tree Plantation.
12. Sakthi Engineering College,Thiruvallur District YRC wing has organized Awareness Camp and Human Chain Programme.
13. Vignesh Nursing College,Thiruvannamalai. YRC wing has organized a lecture on Clean India Mission creating Awareness among the Students.
14. MMM College of Nursing,Mogappair, Thiruvallur District YRC wing has organized in the form of Campus Cleaning Drive and a Poetry competition on the same theme.
15. CSI Jeyaraj Annapackiam College of Nursing & Allied Science,Madurai Awareness Programme was organized by arranging on Environmental Sanitation, Lecture on Life with Nature by involving community people.
16. Government Arts College,Kulithalai Karur District YRC District Organizer of Karur District organized Awareness Programme on Clean India Mission (Swachh Bharath Abhiyan) on 12.01.2015.
17. Naina Mohamed College of Arts and Science YRC wing has conducted the Awareness Rally Programme for “Swachh Bharath Abhiyan”.
18. Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research YRC wing has organized the Swachh Bharath Abhiyan”. The YRC Volunteers cleaned the temple campus and surrounding area of Melmaruvathur and Southpakkam were visited an daily basis by around 75,000 pilgrims who visit Temple during the irumudi season.

ONE DAY DISTRICT LEVEL YRC STUDENTS STUDY CAMP:-

One Day District Level YRC Students Study Camp was organized by Dr. V. Suneetha, YRC Zonal Co-ordinator, VIT University, Vellore at VIT University, Vellore on 28.01.2015. Dr. G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT University was the Chief Guest who delivered the inaugural address. Poster exhibition cum competition was organized. Sessions were covered on Awareness on Evil efforts of Alcohol, Making Engineers for Better India, Disaster Management and Career Counseling. Totally 100 YRC Volunteers participated. An Orientation Programme on Red Cross YRC Movement was organized at Sri Muthukumarn College, Chennai on 19.01.2015 and also at M.N.M. Jain Engineering College, Thoraipakkam on 24.01.2015. Prof. A. Kadar Basha, Hon. Advisor, YRC, IRCS-TNB delivered the lecture on Red Cross Movement.

A Meeting for the YRC Programme Officers of the Colleges (Arts & Science) existing in Chennai District was convened on 28.01.2015 at Red Cross premises, in order to impart the First Aid & Disaster Management Training Programme in the Colleges. Thiru. Narayanan A.K., Administrative Secretary, IRCS-TNB & Dr. R. Anuradha, Hon. Co-ordinator for First Aid & Disaster Management Programme conducted the Meeting, Thiru. M. Senthilnathan, Treasurer, IRCS – TNB, Thiru. M.S.M.Nasruddin, General Secretary, IRCS-TNB, District Secretaries of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, YRC Zonal Co-ordinator of University of Madras, YRC District Organizer, Chennai District also present. Totally 25 YRC Programme Officers attended.

During this Month 55 Students of MMM College of Nursing visited the Red Cross activities on 29.01.2015.

YRC wing of RVS Technical Campus, Coimbatore conducted Blood Donation Camp in their College premises on 09.01.2015. Dr. Y. Robinson, Director, RVS Technical Campus inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. Dr. V. S. Sri Devi, Medical Officer, Blood Bank, Government Hospital, Coimbatore attended. 71 Volunteers donated Blood.

It is a pioneering Organization aiming to aleviate human sufferings in any form and caretakers for fulfilling Humanitarian Needs. Both Indian Red Cross Society and St John. Ambulances (India) are working under one umbrella at National Head Quarters under the Head of Secretary General Indian Red Cross Society and St.John. Ambulance (India) at NHQ New Delhi. St.John Ambulance, National Head Quarters New Delhi authorized Red Cross Branches in all States and UTs to impart First Aid Trainings and issue Certificates in First Aid on the pattern of St.John Ambulance. As part of its activities, Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch is imparting First Aid Training Programmes all over Tamil Nadu for School & College Students, Professionals, General Public, Teachers/ Professors, Nurses and all other Departments.

As part of the First Aid Training Programme, Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch imparted First Aid Trainings for the all the categories such as Senior Professional, Medallion, Voucher, Senior Student and Juniors during January 2015 as per details given below :
