JANANI SISHU SURAKSHA KARYAKRAM

Government of India launched Janani Sishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) to be implemented nationally where all the pregnant women offering for delivery at Health Institutions and treated sick new born up to 30 days will get free transport service. To implement this Scheme as a Pilot Project covering all the major Obstetrics & Gynecology Women & Children Hospitals at Chennai, Government of Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project, decided and engaged the services of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch for implementation of this Project. Around 15 vehicles will be provided for operation. New Initiative of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch.

FREE HEARSE SERVICE

All the vehicles allotted for Free Hearse Service were on road and were utilized cent percent for the transportation of deceased to various places in Tamil Nadu. 7457 corpses were transported by 133 Free Hearse Mortuary Vans during the month of November’14 from various Government Medical Teaching and Non Teaching Institutions to the native places of the deceased at the request of their relatives in all 32 Districts of Tamil Nadu. The cumulative figures of bodies transported right from the inception are 199308 corpses as on November’14.

FAMILY COUNSELING CENTER

The Family Counseling Center is the Project of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch under the Grant from Central Social Welfare Board. It has completed fifteen years of dedicated service to the Society. It has so far successfully dealt with 5,024 cases. Under IPCD Project, Two days First Aid Training Programme was held on 06.11.2014 & 07.11.2014 for JRC Counselors of Central Chennai Educational District at IRCS TNB premises. Tmt.Joyce Celina District Educational Officer, Central Chennai Educational Disrict was the Chief Guest in the function. Dr. P.A. Sathyanarayanan, Secretary, IRCS, Chennai District, and Thiru Narayanan, A.K. Administrative Secretary, IRCS TNB attended the Programme.
